Maybe Florida elecions are just plain cursed. Even with brand new paper ballot based machines in Palm Beach County Florida, they can't count votes. In the initial contest, the two candidates in the judicial contest were a mere 17 votes apart. After a state ordered 2 day long manual recount, the candidates were 60 votes apart and 3,400 votes had disappeared. To further deligitimize this election, members of the county canvassing board signed off on official documents that had no numbers on them. Whoops! It looks like this election will go to the courts. Adding to the irony is that the Palm Beach County's Supervisor of Elections is named Arthur Anderson (who probably is no relation to the Arther Anderson Accounting firm the accounting firm for the scandalized company Enron, but how ironic it is.)
State to certify recount results in judicial race (even though officials signed off on blank numbers)
